What Does Neurodivergent Mean?

The term neurodivergent is used to describe individuals who have a brain that differs significantly from the majority. In contrast, someone who is neurotypical has a brain that falls within the societal norms of “normal.” In truth, neurodiversity applies to all humans, but in most contexts neurodivergent will refer to people whose brains fall outside of societal norms. Common conditions that fall under the neurodivergent umbrella other than autism include ADHD and FASD.
